Humility Homes and Services, Inc. owns 18 properties in Davenport, IA, which includes 41 apartments, our emergency shelter, and the 10,000 square foot Fresh Start Donation Center. We lease an additional 52 apartments. On any given day, 250 – 300 adults and children are participating in our services. Providing housing and supportive services is a smart investment in people and saves taxpayers millions of dollars in health care costs and punitive, criminal justice systems.
Outreach Teams – teams of staff and community partners visit parking lots, stairwells, abandoned buildings, and encampments making meaningful contact with persons living on the streets, providing emergency supplies such as water, hygiene products, cleansers, and referrals to appropriate services.
Service Coordination – staff assist participants identify the most appropriate housing program and support services necessary to help participant achieve short and long-term housing stability.
Emergency Shelter – 70 bed, low-barrier, emergency shelter serving women and men 18 years of age and older.
Transitional Housing for Veterans – provides single veterans short to medium term housing and service coordination to help them secure long-term, supportive housing.
Transitional Housing for Veterans and their Families – provides short to medium term housing and supportive services for homeless veterans and their children.
Supportive Housing – assists persons who are living with disabilities and have experienced long term homelessness with the housing, financial assistance and service coordination they need to remain safely housed and out of more costly systems of care, i.e., health care and criminal justice systems.
Rapid Re-housing – assists families and single adults to quickly transition from homelessness into their own lease agreements through a holistic package of temporary financial assistance, service coordination, and referrals.
Supportive Services for Veterans and their Families (VALOR) – assists Veterans and their families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless with financial assistance and supportive services.
Rent-It-Forward – assists families seeking minimal, short-term financial assistance and supportive services.
Section 8 Plus – assists families participating in the Housing Choice Voucher Program with access to homes and the service coordination they need to help maintain their housing stability.
Single Room Occupancy Units - six single room occupancy units for rent within our shelter providing participants the benefits of privacy and community life. Residents in our SRO units have their own bedroom, share a bathroom with one other resident, and communal kitchen, dining, and living room space. Residents also work with service coordinators and other shelter staff in achieving longer term housing plan.
Quad Cities Coordinated Entry Partnership – Humility Homes and Services helped establish the first Coordinated Entry System in the Quad Cities. Coordinated Entry matches persons at greatest risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness with the right intervention as quickly as possible. Humility Homes and Services and Salvation Army are among the core partners and service providers in the Partnership.
Fresh Start Donation Center and Corner Closet – the volunteer run Donation Center helps participants in all of the housing programs obtain household items, furniture, clothing, and personal hygiene products they need to establish their own homes.
