Update from Ashley Velez, Executive Director

With the start of July each year, we are reminded of a few things including the warm summer sun, children out on summer break, our rising river - -  and here at Humility Homes and Services, we begin our new fiscal year. The new fiscal year - - fiscal year 2020 - - marks the 30th anniversary since the Congregation of Humility of Mary established Humility of Mary Housing. Please watch out for events throughout the year recognizing the three decades of service.

The past fiscal year, fiscal year 2019, was also a milestone as we completed the first year of Humility Homes and Services, Inc. (HHSI) - - the merged organization of Humility of Mary Housing and Humility of Mary Shelter.  Our team worked hard - - providing services and housing for 1,418 individuals and families - - including 386 individuals at the Quad Cities winter emergency shelter. This number is an increase over the number served before the two agencies merged serving 178 more participants over the previous fiscal year.

As the Executive Director for the last 90 days I have had the opportunity to witness first-hand the positive and lasting impact HHSI services have on individuals, families and veterans.

As we begin our new fiscal year, we are determined to continue to deepen our impact and expand affordable housing opportunities to all who need our services.

Thank you for your continued partnership and all that you all have done to support HHSI in our first “official” year. And thank you for all who have welcomed me into my new position including those who attended our summer kick off BBQ welcome party.

I look forward to our continued journey to ensure every member in our community has a safe and affordable place to call home.
