Seeking Entrepreneurial Ideas to Create Affordable Housing!

In June, 2018 HHSI held the first of six focus groups to identify innovative and entrepreneurial ways to develop affordable housing in the Quad Cities.  Our final focus group was held on December 6, 2018.  Driving the concern is the loss of affordable housing for the approximately 10,360 Quad Cities households earning $21,960.00 and less.  An affordable rent for these households is $542.00 per month.   From 2010 - 2017 the Quad Cities area lost 5,791 rental apartments at $500.00 per month and less.   We gained 16,356 rental apartments at $500.00 - $999.00 per month and 7,842 rental apartments at $1,000.00 per month and above.  Development in the the Quad Cities is booming!  Our Quad Cities Chamber is promoting us as Cool. Creative. Connected. Prosperous.

With affordable housing for all, we can make sure everyone has an opportunity to participate and contribute!

If you have been impacted by an increase in rent that has either caused an eviction, moving in with family or friends, or you are now spending more than 50% of your monthly income as a result of that increase, we would like to hear from you.  Please email with your story.

With limited federal investments in low-income housing, local communities are organizing energies, skills, and resources to develop affordable housing options.  Creative partnerships among private sector and public sector agencies are helping fill the gap in communities across the US.  The QC Housing Solutions report will be published later in January, 2019.  Stay tuned.
